Topics
  • The digital-trust problem
  • From ledger to chain
  • Centralised vs distributed systems
  • Why blockchain exists at all
Learning outcomes
  • Explain in one paragraph why blockchain was invented
  • Identify the three properties that make a chain a chain
  • Place blockchain on a spectrum of trust systems
What you'll be able to do

By the end of BF101.

  • Explain why blockchain was invented — without resorting to hype or analogy.
  • Walk a transaction from wallet to confirmed block on the canvas of a single page.
  • Compare proof-of-work and proof-of-stake on the right axes for the right audience.
  • Read a smart contract's structure and predict its behaviour before running it.
  • Decide whether a given problem actually needs a blockchain — or doesn't.
The certification

A credential built to be read by people who matter.

The exam is 100 multiple-choice questions across all six modules. 90 minutes, open-book on theory, closed on calculations. A pass is 70%.

Pass and you receive a DLTC certificate with a permanent ID — verifiable by any third party at a public URL, and (quietly) anchored on-chain so the credential outlives any single registry.
